These glasses are mouth blown and handmade by a family run business from the Czech Republic. Based on historical designs, the production of these glasses requires a lot of experience as well as teamwork and is therefore limited to around 20-30 glasses a day.
These glasses have been made according to the so-called forest glass traditions. Most of the glass factories in the 17th century were located in the forests of Northern Europe, hence the name of this tradition. Because of the location, most of the raw materials were collected in the forest as well. The green colour of the glasses comes from the sand that contained minimal traces of iron and in combination with the copper oxide which was added to the ground wood ash, explains the colour.
Every glass is unique!
